Delhi – Agra –Delhi

Agra is the unique Mughal City, where the world marvels at the epitome of love, beauty and sacrifice. So overwhelming is the magic monument, that Agra has been immortalized, as the City of the Taj. The most modern areas of the town, such as the cantonment, dates back over a hundred years.

Morning drive to Agra.On reaching Agra, if desire one can have lunch at the local restaurant before proceeding for the tour.The City Tour will include the visit toSikandra (the Tomb of King Akbar, The third Mughal EmperorAkbar the Great (1542 – 1605), himself commenced the construction of one’s tomb during one’s lifetime. Akbar himself planned his own tomb and selected a suitable site for it, after his death, Akbar’s son Jahangir completed the construction in 1605-1613.
Red /Agra Fort lies on the bend of the river Yamuna, almost in the heart of the town. It was built by Akbar as his citadel over the years 1563-73 in the finest architectural style. It has imposing gates and walls of red sandstone and a moat.
TajMahal is the most famous Moghul monument which was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife MumtazMahal “the lady of the Taj”. It has been described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love, for the emperor was heartbroken when Mumtaz died after 17 years of marriage, during the birth of her 14th child.The central structure has four small domes surrounding the huge, central dome. Above the tombs of MumtazMahal and Shah Jahan are false tombs, a common practice in Indian mausoleums. (TajMahal is closed on Friday).
Itmud-Ud-Duala is also known as BABY TAJ and has a special place in the chronicles of both history as well as architecture. This is precisely because ItmadudDaula is the very first tomb in India that is entirely made out of Marble. This is actually a mausoleum that overlooks the River Yamuna and is a tomb of Mir Ghiyas Beg, a minister in the court of Shah Jahan.
After the sightseeing tour. Drive back to Delhi and as per your flight timings, transfer to International Airport to board the flight for onward journey.
